Warsaw Destination Alliance to fundacja stworzona przez największe sieciowe hotele warszawskie: Hyatt Regency Warsaw, Holiday Inn, InterContinental Warszawa, Le Regina, Le Royal Meridien Bristol, Marriott Warsaw, Radisson SAS, Rialto, Sheraton Warsaw Hotel & Towers, Sofitel Victoria, Residence St. Andrews Palace, The Westin Warsaw. Tworzą ją również linie lotnicze, wypożyczalnie samochodów, restauracje, galerie, muzea oraz koncerny spożywcze. The website www.destinationwarsaw.com, a.k.a. the Warsaw Calendar of Events, was launched Jan. 28. This website and www.warsawvoice.pl provide information, frequently months in advance, about various cultural and entertainment events in Warsaw.
A few months ago members of the Warsaw Destination Alliance discussed what was on in Warsaw. It became clear that many events go unnoticed in the city due to a lack of publicity. The issue was addressed by the Let's Warsaw Together committee, whose members included representatives of institutions such as the Palace of Culture and Science, Wielki Theater/National Opera, Warsaw Chamber Opera, National Philharmonic and theaters. The committee affiliates people from more than 40 institutions, Poles and foreigners.
"The list of events compiled from data we received from various institutions was very long," said Juliusz Kłosowski, general manager of Warsaw Voice SA and a member of the WDA management board. He proposed the creation of an online database, a task handled by the Voice, in regular cooperation with www.infochopin.pl, which features a list of all Chopin-related events around the world. Another partner is www.biznesnet.pl. Each month, the Let's Warsaw Together committee meets under the auspices of the WDA at hotels associated in the organization. "Other cultural institutions are getting in touch with us; we can see a lot of interest in the initiative," Kłosowski said. "These websites are one of the ways to promote Warsaw."
The website has both Polish and English versions and all Let's Warsaw Together partners have links to it on their own websites. "Foreigners need to have reasons to come here," Kłosowski said. Months in advance, they can plan their participation in such prestigious events as the International Chopin Piano Competition, a concert by U2 and the Jazz Jamboree Festival. The website provides information about many kinds of events (exhibitions, fairs, opera, ballet, music concerts, theater performances, revues and shows). It is also a tool for travel agencies and hotels. The database lists events by date or type (e.g. clubbing, jazz). "We look forward to hearing any remarks, comments or opinions and so e-mails are very welcome," said Kłosowski.
